Planning For Your Newborn Photography Session… A Little Later

So, like the rest of the world, we’ve been stuck in quarantine anywhere from 2-4 weeks already depending on where you live and all non essential businesses have been told to close. Now if you ask me, newborn photography IS A necessity, but I’ll abide by the rules until they tell me I can open my studio doors again.  Some new parents are rightfully upset they won’t be able to hire someone to take photos of their little one in those first few days and weeks… but the good news is, you can still get AMAZING images even when they’re NOT newborns but have a similiar look.

When a newborn photographer plans for a photoshoot with a baby older than 2-3 weeks, they may have some exceptions regarding the session. For example, it may not be possible for them to achieve all of the sleepy / curly poses they usually can get with younger infants.  By 3 months old, most babies are typically more settled / alert, are able to hold their head steady and have started to smile and engage with others around them. This is an ideal time for photographing babies and is particularly popular with families who have missed the opportunity for a professional newborn photo shoot, like some are right now experiencing due to COVID-19.
