Reviews:

I recently had the privilege of attending a workshop with the amazing Amy of Dewdrops Photography. Amy held nothing back and answered all my questions, no matter what. She was down-to-earth and easy going and kept the environment laid back and fun the whole day. I was able to learn so much by observing her, sometimes hovering right over her shoulder, but she didn’t mind, she just kept right along showing me how she works her magic. I was amazed by her confidence with handling not only the precious babies, but with the parents.

Amy is an amazing mentor. And not only that, but she is willing to still answer my questions even after the workshop to help me to be the best photographer I can be. I just hope I can make her proud.

I have met other photographers in the past who let the success of their business get to their head, but not Amy. She was so humble and sweet and treated me like we had known each other forever even though minutes before we were strangers. She truly is the best and I am so honored that I was able to work with her and that she saw enough potential in me to allow me to learn from her.

I promise, you will not be disappointed with Amy and her workshops. She is superb!

Thank you Amy for an amazing weekend and for teaching me everything and anything you could! Much love sister!

I hosted Amy McDaniel and Nicole Smith’s Dream Baby Workshop in March 2014. Having attended several workshops in the past, I thought I knew what to expect but I was BLOWN away at what these girls were able to deliver to their attendees. Nicole and Amy truly walked through (step by step) each aspect of their shooting and were able to give each attendee one on one time to go over their shots and critique. Now, one would think this is a pretty basic part of a workshop but attendees don’t always get good one on one time with the teachers – especially if the group is large. I was really impressed by how thorough they were with each photographer and you could just sense that they were invested in each person and really wanted to see them grow from the experience. The covered both the technical and the artistic side of shooting as well as took the group step by step through editing. I KNOW that the attendees left with a sense of accomplishment and arrived home determined to put their new found skills to good use! Last, photography is about so much more than good styling and shooting, it’s about the heart behind it. I LOVED that Amy has a group for her workshop and mentees where girls can ask continual questions and follow up to see progress. It’s such an active, amazing group of women and from that group there was even a prayer group specifically for photographers born. It’s SO refreshing to see photographers come together in a Christian way to support one another. If you are looking to get the best for your money (and SO MUCH MORE), I would highly recommend this experience to any newborn photographer! Jackie Cream n Cocoa Photography

Your workshop was absolutely inspiring and amazing. There is so much love and talent that go into each and every beautiful picture. I am beyond blown away and in awe of you. You are just incredible with those sweet little ones. Thank you so much for everything. I loved meeting you.

I cannot tell you how awesome it was to spend the weekend learning from you. I had my first newborn session less than 24 hours after leaving workshop and I felt so empowered and excited to put into practice all that I learned. You are truly amazing and I am so thankful that you are willing to share your art and for the friendships created in Chicago. Worth every.penny.and.some!

The world of newborn photography is ever-so saturated and finding the impeccable package of fabulous posing plus amazing style and safety, can honestly be quite challenging in this competitive market. As someone that just started photography this fall, I found exactly what I needed to take my business and talents to the next level! This weekend, I had the opportunity to learn from Nicole Smith Photography and Dewdrops Photography by Amy McDaniel in an amazing workshop where both of these inspiring photographers combined and brought all of their secrets to the table to share….
If you are looking to grow as a newborn photographer and continue to keep things fresh, their workshop is where it’s at! Captured by Clay Photography

THANK YOU AMY for such an incredible experience and learning opportunity at your Cincinnati workshop with Nicole Smith Photography!!! I loved every second of it and learned an incredible amount of knowledge! I can not wait for my next session and feel completely at ease now about so many aspects of my business. You two were amazing instructors and our host (Jackie from Cream n Cocoa Photography) was incredibly accommodating and lovely! Had a great time, made new friends, took my work to the next level and got to practice. AMAZING!!! DULCE BABY photography

Amy, I cannot thank you enough for what you taught me at the workshop. I am so happy with the way my sessions have been turning out…especially on the beanbag poses. Using studio light has made such a tremendous difference in the outcome of my photos. I cannot wait to continue to learn and develop my new skills. Taking your workshop was by far the best investment I could have made at this point in my career. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. I only wish I would have done it sooner!!

Amy’s workshop is absolutely incredible and taking it was one the best decisions I made in my photography career! I had been struggling with newborn poses and angles and finished every newborn session feeling frustrated. Amy not only showed us step by step how to create beautiful images from camera settings, props, set up, posing, angle, lighting and editing -but also gave us tons of opportunity to practice and continuous feedback!!!
It was so inspirational and enlightening leaning from her! And now I feel so much more confident in my work!!! I absolutely recommend this workshop to anyone wanting to learn to perfect the art of photographing newborns!!! Livia Debonet

***I am thrilled that I had the chance to attend your Dewdrops Photography workshop with Nicole Smith Photography this past weekend. I couldn’t have picked a better workshop or group of ladies to spend the weekend with. Not only are y’all wonderful photographers but you are both great teachers as well. Thank you for being so attentive and guiding me through all the steps to getting consistently great shots. I really appreciate that you were open books of knowledge and answered all my newbie questions.

Not only was it jam packed with information, tips, and tricks but also with FUN!! You two are so sweet & totally hilarious!! I had one of the best times of my life! I laughed til I (almost) peed my pants.
Thanks for the memories (& education). LOVED IT!!!

7 years ago I never would have believed that I would be teaching newborn workshops, much less be flying to Australia to do it. This year marks my 3rd year in a row and this time we added Perth to the mix.  The beaches and people were stunning which made it the perfect place to photograph newborns and maternity. Nicole Smith, Nicole Druce, Jade Gao and myself had the best time showing 16 other photographers how we photograph newborns, babies and maternity. The students were all very eager to learn and some of the sweetest people I’ve ever met. You’d think teaching 16 photographers would be hectic but everything flowed seamlessly with the help of our host Hil Adamson. Our mornings started on the beanbag with 8 students teamed up with Nicole and I learning our posing with studio light, while the other 8 watched Jade and Nicole using natural light. Our afternoons were spent going over editing, prop shots, parent shots and some beautiful outdoor maternity and newborn photography.

Awesome group photo below:) Yes, I have a girl crush on Nicole Druce…lol.

Smith and I said goodbye to this fantastic bunch and headed on to Melbourne. 2nd time for Nicole, 3rd time for me. I adore the city and surrounding areas and you’re almost guaranteed to see Kangaroo which is huge for an American like myself.

This time we were able to see hundreds just hanging out in a pasture like cows. I’m sure the Aussies think we’re insane when we spaz out over seeing them.

Anyway, our Melbourne group was a bit smaller and for 1.5 days I’m pretty sure we covered everything and our host Katie Stav was nothing other than perfect.

Super cool girls below:)

I’m sad to say that I don’t think I will be visiting Australia next year but you never know. 2016 is already super booked with workshops in Brazil, Canada, Switzerland, Ireland, Scotland and all over the U.S. Oh and don’t forget the first U.S.A. Baby Summit happening in October!

I’m happy to be back in little ole Auburn, Alabama with my family but I kind of wish I could snap my fingers and do it again because we had such a good time.

Some sweetness from our workshops below.

Auburn/Opelika Newborn Photographer

When I heard the news about being named one of the top 10 Child Photographers in the World I was shocked. The world? No way! I quickly read through the others that were listed and to even be mentioned with those super talented child photographers was enough for me. Well the excitement has faded just enough for me to share with you here! Most of you know I specialize in newborn photography in the Auburn/Opelika area but many of my clients drive from Columbus and Atlanta, Georgia and Montgomery and Birmingham, Alabama. Baby’s first year is such a blur so to photograph them as newborns, 6 months and 1 year is so important and so fun! I love comparing their newborn and 1 year photographs to see how much they’ve changed. Watching them as sleepy newborns and then bouncing off the walls at their 1 year sessions is just really incredible. I’m so honored to have such loyal clients that keep coming back to me for their child’s first year but it’s even more exciting when they call me with the news that they’re expecting their second, third or fourth baby! It helps to absolutely love what you do for a living but to bring others art that they can cherish forever is the most rewarding. Newborns, babies and especially the 1 year old photography sessions can be so unpredictable and each one of them has their own unique personalities so thinking on your feet is important. I’ve captured the most precious expressions by just letting them be who they are. I know parents just want that smile but some of those serious expressions are my absolute favorite. Their big eyes looking right into the camera just melts my heart. Please take a moment to see some of my favorites from the fall and this year.

It’s hard to believe it’s already February so if you’re expecting or have a milestone session you’d like to book please don’t wait to book. Spring is just around the corner which is when my busy season takes off and my international workshops kick into high gear. Newborn photography is best done at 5-21 days old when babies are still sleepy and curly:) Sitter sessions are anywhere from 6-8 months depending on when your baby is sitting up on her own. 1 year sessions take place either in the studio or on location and is a great time to sneak a couple of family photographs in. Be on the lookout for cotton mini sessions soon!
